XL Stacked Stone
Midnight Slate XL Stacked Stone
Black slate at full XL scale makes a strong architectural statement. Each 9" x 24" split-face panel shows the layered cleft slate is known for, and the tall courses give a fireplace or feature wall a bold, graphic rhythm.
A 9" x 12" x 6" L-corner wraps columns and returns. The look suits modern homes in Alpine, Draper and Highland where black stone plays against white walls, light floors and large glass. For close-up areas like an island or bar front, Midnight Slate Mini carries the same black slate in a 4.5" x 16" panel, half the height of the XL, with a 4.5" x 9" corner. Dark stone absorbs heat, so on west- or south-facing exteriors, discuss placement with your installer before committing.
Black stone looks different in every light. Request a quote and a sample, or book a Draper or Payson showroom appointment.

Let contrast lead: white oak floors, white plaster or limewash, and warm brass or leather accents. A floating oak or concrete mantel stands out sharply against the black. Graze-light the wall from above to reveal texture. Use the L-corners on chimney breasts and columns, and use the mini on smaller surfaces in the same room for a consistent material story.

About Midnight Slate XL Stacked Stone
What is the difference between Midnight Slate XL and the mini?
Both are black split-face slate. XL panels are 9" x 24" with a 9" x 12" x 6" L-corner; mini panels are 4.5" x 16" with a 4.5" x 9" corner. XL suits big walls, mini suits islands and backsplashes.
Will a black fireplace wall look too heavy?
Large black walls work best with light surroundings and good lighting. Balance the slate with pale floors, white walls or warm wood, and use directional lighting so the split-face texture stays visible.
Is black slate a good exterior choice in sunny areas?
Dark stone absorbs more heat than light stone. In high-sun locations like St. George, discuss exposure, substrate and the installation system with your installer before cladding exterior walls with it.
