Clay Brick & Porcelain Brick
Brick is the one exterior material most people can read at a glance, so pattern, proportion and colour carry the whole wall. The same brick laid in a running bond and in a herringbone produces two very different surfaces.
Stone Era supplies thin clay brick and porcelain brick for feature walls, fireplaces, outdoor kitchens, patios and interior finishes on residential and commercial projects across Utah.
Thin clay brick is fired clay supplied on mesh-back sheets in running bond or herringbone, with matching single tiles and corner pieces. It adheres to the wall, so it needs no brick ledge.
Porcelain brick gives the look of reclaimed brick with the durability and low maintenance of porcelain, in slim and paver formats with a matte finish.

Choosing brick that suits the building
Pattern first, colour second. A running bond reads calm and traditional; a herringbone adds movement and reads more crafted. Get the pattern right and a wide range of colours will work.
Count the mortar. On a small-format brick wall the joint is a significant share of the visible surface. Grout and mortar colour is a design decision with as much weight as the brick.
Choose clay or porcelain from the location. Mesh-back clay sheets suit interior and covered outdoor walls; porcelain brick and single clay tiles suit exposed outdoor areas. Check the substrate and exposure before choosing.
See a panel, not a brick. Brick varies unit to unit by design. Ask to see several pieces together before committing to a whole wall.
Brick — common questions
What brick does Stone Era carry?
Thin clay brick on running bond and herringbone mesh-back sheets, with single tiles and corner pieces, and porcelain brick in 2⅓″ x 10″, 2″ x 18″ and 5″ x 10″ formats. Each product page lists its sizes.
What is the difference between clay and porcelain brick?
Thin clay brick is fired clay with natural variation from unit to unit. Porcelain brick is a manufactured tile that reproduces the look of reclaimed brick with consistent sizing, a matte finish and low maintenance.
Can thin brick be used inside?
Yes. Thin brick is common on interior feature walls, fireplace surrounds and kitchen backsplashes, where the depth and weight of a full unit would not be practical.
Which brick suits a contemporary look?
Longer, slimmer porcelain formats such as 2″ x 18″ read more linear and contemporary; clay brick in a running bond or herringbone reads more traditional. The right answer depends on the space, so bring photos or drawings.
Can you quote brick from my elevations?
Yes. Send the elevations or a material schedule with approximate square footage and we can help identify suitable products and estimate quantities, including a waste allowance.
Do you carry porcelain brick?
Yes. Porcelain brick tiles give the look of reclaimed brick with the durability and low maintenance of porcelain, in 2⅓″ x 10″, 2″ x 18″ and 5″ x 10″ formats with a matte finish. Each product page lists its sizes.
